The Hebrew calendar reminds us again that we are approaching a new year. Where did the lazy days of summer go? Gone are the voices of children playing in pools or tag in the yard, replaced with the sounds of buses and lockers opening and closing. Change is also in the air around Sisterhood at Brothers of Israel. Our esteemed Sisterhood president, Mindy Seckel, stepped down in the spring at the end of her third year in this position. Thankfully Mindy is still actively involved as we get our feet wet and learn all there is to co-chairing this wonderful branch of the synagogue. We thank Mindy for all she has done for Sisterhood and all she continues to do! Allow us to introduce ourselves to those of you who don’t know us (yet). We are Amy Kirk and Michelle Goldberg, the new Sisterhood co-presidents. We are happy to take on this exciting role and we want YOU to help us make this a phenomenal year! Mark your calendars for some exciting events that we are currently planning. Our first meeting of the New Year will be on October 10th, 2010, at 10:00am. That’s 10/10/10, at 10, so don’t forget! We would love to see everyone there. Then get ready for our annual paid up dinner at 5:00 pm on October 24th. That’s a great opportunity to meet new friends and reconnect with some you haven’t seen in a while. Sisterhood will be selling gift shop ware at our annual Chanukah sale on Sunday November 7th at 9:30 am. Volunteers will be needed for that event. We are in the process of planning some really fun new events this year (for example, mani/pedi night at a local salon, Zumba salsa dancing etc.), so let us know if you have an activity you would like us to explore. We are happy to try new things. Our fabulous Moonbeams continues this year with our first night at Jody Kessel’s house. Date at time TBA. Please let Diane Strauss know if you can host a Moonbeams. New Years cards are in the mail, so please be on the lookout for our beautiful greeting. Many thanks go out to Harriet Belovin, her daughter Robin, and her amazing team who lovingly put this card together year after year. If you have your name listed in the card, many thanks. If you did not do it this year, please try and do it next year! Be on the look out for our Ways and Means package and the great events Judy Minsky and her team are planning for the upcoming year. We also have supermarket script available in the office. Support the synagogue by buying script and shopping at our local markets. If you haven’t already done so, please return sisterhood forms.
