Shalom, I hope you all have been reading Love Loss and What I Wore for our Sisterhood Book Review on March 7th at 4pm. Sandy Kitain will be leading the discussion. I hope to see many of you there. The Founder’s Day event was postponed due to snow. I will let you know what the new date is when I receive word. This coming Hebrew month, Nisan, which begins on the evening of March 15th, is a special month. When I hear the name Nisan, I immediately think of spring. It is a time for renewal. After all the snow I am certainly ready for spring, not quite ready for Pesach- the shopping, the cooking-all will get done. We will be honoring this Rosh Chodesh with Moonbeams on Monday March 15th at the synagogue and will be doing a Passover craft and having a short discussion. I would also like to ask for volunteers for Diane Strauss who is cooking on Thursday, March 18th for our Family Shabbat pasta Dinner. You can contact Diane directly or let me know if you are available. We are not just busy preparing for Pesach, we are preparing for our Torah Fund Luncheon honoring Donna Nowicki. Donna works tireless for our Sisterhood and the Synagogue. She doesn’t know the work “no” and is very giving of her free time. We will be showing our appreciation on Sunday, April 18th at a luncheon. Proceeds go to benefit Torah Fund (The Jewish Theological Seminary) and a small portion for our Sisterhood. Please send in your responses and don’t forget to include your tribute! Do you need any items for Pesach? We have lovely new merchandise in our case and beautiful “sale” merchandise that we would like to sell to make room for even more new merchandise. We will be discounting Seder Plates and Tallitot from our inventory. Please see Judi Young or Mindy Seckel if you are interesting in purchasing giftware or ordering kippot or a tallit. How to make a donation without spending one extra cent: buy Supermarket Scrip (giftcards) for your Passover shopping. Even if you usually use your credit card, take a break for Pesach and buy Scrip. You pay face value and Sisterhood gets a 5% discount when purchasing the Scrip. Support us and you will also be supporting our Synagogue! You can order it and receive it by mail or you can pick it up during business hours. Save the date for Men’s Club Sisterhood Shabbat and volunteer to lead a prayer in Hebrew or English (children may accompany/assist their parents). Contact me if you are interested in helping. Wishing you a happy Passover, Mindy Seckel, Sisterhood President |
