Congregation Brothers of Israel

L'dor Vador - From Generation to Generation since 1883 לדור ודור

Co-chaired by Janet Barudin and Amy Stinson, the Caring (Chesed)/Social Action Committee provides care and support within the synagogue community.  It also provides opportunities for the congregation to meet the social service needs of the larger community.   The Caring Committee regularly visits residents of The Birches, an assisted living community in Newtown, Pa.  Each month the committee provides a social hour of activities, games, and special programming, along with a snack and great conversation.

Once or twice a year, CBOI religious school students and/or Rabbi Gaber join the committee to enhance their special holiday programs.

Throughout the year Chesed supports the needs of various agencies, such as Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Jewish Family and Children's Services, United Way of Bucks County, and the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen.   This support is in the form of collections of specific items that are requested by these agencies.

New committee members are ALWAYS welcome!
